Lacey packs summer entertainment schedule with lots of free fun

Lacey’s summer entertainment schedule is packed with concerts, performances and movies.

The Lacey in Tune program will begin Tuesday with the start of the Children’s Entertainment Series. That will be joined in the coming weeks by a concert series and movies. The three-part series runs from next week through early August.

All of the free events will take place at Huntamer Park in Woodland Square, at the corner of Seventh Avenue Southeast and Woodland Square Loop.

Children’s entertainment

This series is for children and families, taking place at 6:30 p.m. The performances will range from comedy for kids to storytelling.

Tuesday: Recess Monkey, kids rock band.

June 28: Jeff Evans, a magically ridiculous game show.

July 5: Ian Dobson, steel drum dance party.

July 12: Chris Fascione, interactive stories.

July 19: We Care Sports, interactive games and fitness fun.

July 26: Vikki Gasco, ventriloquism and magic.

Aug. 2: Reptile Man, reptiles up close.

Concert series

The Lacey in Tune Summer Concerts in the Park will begin Wednesday. The schedule includes performances Wednesdays at noon and Saturdays at 7 p.m., featuring a blend of local, regional and military acts.

Wednesdays

Wednesday: Uptown Lowdown, jazz band.

June 29: 56th Army I Corps Army Band, patriotic music.

July 6: 133rd Washington National Guard Band, big band music.

July 13: Olympia Jazz Senators, classic big-band jazz.

July 20: Ranger & the Rearrangers, gypsy, jazz and swing.

July 27: The Eclectics, a father-and-son band covering Motown to Maroon 5.

Aug. 3: Calaca Kings, R&B and blues.

Saturdays

July 16: Folsom Prism, Johnny Cash tribute.

July 23: Missy G, country.

July 30: The Coats, an a cappella group.

Aug. 6: Cherry, Cherry, Neil Diamond tribute.

Movies at Dusk

Also taking place at Huntamer Park, the Saturday movies will begin at dusk. After the opening night, the movies coincide with a concert beforehand.

July 9: “Jurassic Park” (PG-13).

July 16: “Inside Out” (PG).

July 23: “Aladdin” (G) and “Descendents” (NR).

July 30: “Sleeping Beauty” (G) and “Maleficent” (PG).

Aug. 6: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (PG-13).

Lacey Days

Overlapping with the Lacey In Tune programs will be Lacey Days. Running June 25-July 9, Lacey Days, a joint effort between the city and Lacey-South Sound Chamber, is a mix of community events and activities. The schedule includes the 16th annual America’s Classic Jazz Festival on June 25-26, the Freedom Concert and fireworks show July 3, a Mid Summer’s Ice Cream Social on July 8 and the South Sound BBQ Festival on July 9.
