Burlesque comes out for summer fun
With a mission to create innovative and intelligent neo-burlesque, Olympia’s own TUSH Burlesque is bringing its “Wet Hot Olympia Summer” show to the Obsidian, 414 Fourth Ave. E. The 21-and-older show will feature special guest Sara Sparrow along with its own award-winning cast. Showtimes are 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday. Concert will benefit Stonewall Youth
With roots in Olympia and Stonewall Youth, the Tasha Carter Show is coming to the Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia, for a benefit concert on Saturday. After beginning his career in 2009, Terronce (aka Tasha Carter) has performed in multiple cities and headlined shows. The night’s entertainment, beginning at 8 p.m., will feature Gigi, Selena Veyron and the dance group Rebellion. Proceeds benefit Stonewall Youth. Tickets are $10, $7 Olympia Film Society members. Swing 49 to liven up Sylvester Park
Bringing gypsy jazz to the stage, Swing 49 is the featured band for Olympia Downtown Association’s Music in the Park concert series. Live music begins at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Sylvester Park, 615 Washington St. SE, Olympia, through Aug. 24, with the Aug. 5 concert at the Port Plaza. With a signature sound of high-energy funk, the local band The Brown Edition is an eight-piece powerhouse group. Hear them perform in a 9 p.m. show Saturday at Rhythm & Rye, 311 Capitol Way N., Olympia.

The pinnacle of rock ‘n’ roll concerts
The documentary “The Last Waltz” has become a time-honored slice of Americana. Captured on film by Martin Scorsese, one of the best concerts of rock ’n’ roll featured The Band, and friends Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton and others performing to the level of celebration. The film will be screened at 9 p.m. Friday (July 22) and 5 p.m. Sunday at The Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. Tickets are $9, $6 Olympia Film Society members. Dinosaurs are extinct — but the fascination lives on
Celebrating all things dinosaur, the Lacey Timberland Regional Library, 500 College St. SE, presents “Dinosaur Day” from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday (July 22). Going retro in the gaming arena
If classic and old-school gaming is your thing, come out for the annual Seattle Retro Gaming Expo this weekend at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison St., Seattle. There will be a lot of activities, information, vendors, collectors and more at the two-day event. A free-play room will be open to all with more than 1,200 games available. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $15 for a one-day pass, $25 for a weekend pass and $50 for a family pass. For information, see seattleretro.org.
