Sprinkled around Percival Landing in downtown Olympia is a series of pedestals with a purpose.

The pedestals, or plinths, hold sculptures made by artists hoping to have their work purchased by the city of Olympia for permanent display. The city will buy one of the pieces based on a public vote.

This year there are 18 new sculptures to view and choose from in the Percival Plinth Project.

Voting is open on the city’s Engage Olympia website until July 30. You don’t need to be an Olympia resident to participate.

The Olympia City Council will announce the winner at a meeting later this fall. The sculptures will remain on display until June 2023.

You also can view current exhibitions and past winners on an interactive map on the Engage Olympia website.
