Kim Kardashian Passed the ‘Baby Bar' Test in 2021
The Kardashians star first spoke publicly about becoming a lawyer in April 2019, explaining that she set aside 18 hours of supervised study alongside lawyers Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney each week.
"First year of law school you have to cover three subjects: criminal law, torts, and contracts," she told the Vogue at the time. "To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crim law I can do in my sleep. Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It's so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds."
Kim told the outlet that she secretly "registered with the California State Bar to study law" in 2018.
The mom of four sat for California's First-Year Law Students' Examination - commonly known as the "baby bar" - multiple times, ultimately passing on her fourth attempt in 2021 after three unsuccessful tries.
"I know my dad would be so proud and he would actually be so shocked to know that this is my path now but he would have been my best study partner," the California native said at the time. Robert served as one of OJ Simpson's attornies during his 1995 trial and died in 2023 after a battle with esophageal cancer.
"I am told he was notorious for making fun of people who didn't pass on their first attempt like he did, but he would have been my biggest cheerleader!" Kim affirmed.
Kim Kardashian Has Her Eyes Set on Criminal Reform
The Skims founder is widely known for her legal advocacy and planned on focusing on criminal justice reform when she received her degree.
"I'm very passionate about criminal justice reform and I want to advocate for those who I feel they were wrongfully convicted," she told Hong Kong Vogue in April 2022. "I dream of one day creating a successful law firm."
Kim has made multiple visits to the White House to advocate for inmates seeking clemency, often citing her father as the driving force behind her passion for justice reform.
"We talked about it for sure when I was in college, but I wasn't that serious," she recalled to the Wall Street Journal magazine in October 2021. "Hopefully one day I can start a law firm where we can help people pro bono and hire people who were formerly incarcerated. I don't see me floating on a yacht. I think I'll always feel good when I'm working."
