Love Is Blind’s Matt Bolton and Colleen Reed Announce Separation After Nearly 4 Years of Marriage
Another Love Is Blind couple has officially called it quits. Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton, who fans saw tie the knot during season 3, recently announced their plans to divorce.
"We wanted to share something personal, and this is not easy to do, but after nearly four years together, we've decided to end our marriage and move forward on our own paths," they shared in a joint statement via Instagram on May 23. "We've been separated for some time now and have been doing our best to work through everything privately and with care. This was an incredibly difficult decision, not one we made lightly. It came with a lot of thought and it's been an emotional process for both of us."
The former couple went on to say that they were "grateful for the love and memories [they] shared," and that there was "not one thing [they] would change."
Colleen, 29, and Matt, 30, concluded their message by writing, "We continue to have deep respect and care for one another. Thank you to everyone who has supported us. We kindly ask for compassion as we navigate this transition."
Love Is Blind introduced Matt and Colleen during season 3 of the popular Netflix show, and they were one of two couples who got married during the finale, despite hitting some major bumps in the road.
While in the pods, Colleen also connected with Cole Barnett, but he ultimately proposed to Zanab Jaffrey. However, when Colleen and Cole, 30, met up in person for the first time, they had a conversation during a pool party that had Matt questioning Colleen's feelings.
When Matt and Colleen returned to their room later that night, the sales exec expressed his frustration with her and Cole's conversation and actually considered ending their relationship. Things later came to a head when Colleen chose to go to a local nightclub with some of the other women from the show, and Matt felt she was choosing a night of partying over him.
When his costar Bartise Bowden tried to calm him down, Matt said, "There's no f–king way I can marry this woman."
In the end, Matt and Colleen worked through their issues and both said yes at the altar, but over a year after they wed, the professional ballerina revealed that they still weren't living together, which had fans raising their eyebrows.
"To kind of adapt to now living with someone, it takes a while," Colleen explained during an episode of Deepti Vempati and Natalie Lee's "Out of the Pods" podcast in 2023. "It takes a second, and both of us didn't want to rush changing that, all of a sudden expediting that for other people."
However, she announced that they were in the process of finding a place for them to live together.
"Me and Matt are going to move in together in the next two weeks," Colleen said. "We don't have the finances to buy, by any means, but we're going to rent in Dallas, and then that gives us time to really find the perfect home for what works for us."
