Ballet Philippines is traveling the United States, dancing a program, “Filipino Master Pieces,” featuring classical, neo-classical, neo ethnic, modern and contemporary dance forms. Connecting with the audience
Folk singer-songwriter and classically trained cellist Anna Fritz has taken a break from her work with the Portland Cello Project to play solo shows where she can invite the audience to participate in her acoustic folk music. From farce to commentary
Theater Artists Olympia’s production of “The Complete Works of Williams Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised]” is a loosely scripted comedy farce covering everything from “Romeo and Juliet” to “Othello,” and “Titus Andronicus“ to “Hamlet.” It continues to play at the Midnight Sun Performance Space, 113 Columbia St. NW, Olympia, with showtimes of 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $12.
The Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning play “Clybourne Park” tells a story of race and gentrification, using “Raisin in the Sun” as a jumping off point. Harlequin Productions presentation of the play continues at the State Theater, 202 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20-$31. Join the circus
There will be juggling, comedy, acrobatics, live music and circus-style entertainment when The New Old Time Chautauqua comes to the stage at Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. The community-based, all-volunteer troupe is on a mission to tickle your imagination at its show at 7 p.m. Saturday. Dentists in the spotlight
Come out and support the Olympia Union Gospel Mission’s No-Fee Dental Clinic at the annual benefit show, this year titled “A Little Bit Country ... A Little Bit Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Presented by the South Sound dental community, the variety show features performances by the Olympia Jazz Senators, Debbi’s Dance and the singing ensemble Souled Out. Scott Huckabay, who calls himself a “guitar alchemist,” plays a benefit concert Saturday night for the Olympia nonprofit Friendly Water for the World, which brings clean water to communities by teaching people to make and install water filters. Ballet Northwest is hosting the Eugene Ballet, which will present the classic ballet “Cinderella” at 3 p.m. Sunday.
