Roger Waters will embark on a solo tour in 2017, and will perform at the Tacoma Dome June 24.

The “Us + Them” tour will include at least 40 cities in the United States and Canada, according to the Thursday morning news release announcing the tour. This will be Waters’ first tour since the “The Wall Live,” which more than 4 million people attended in 2010-13. That 219-show tour was the highest grossing tour by a solo artist.

Waters said this tour will include Pink Floyd classics, some new songs and some solo pieces. The 73-year-old British rocker said the inspiration for the title of the tour came from the song “Us and Them” from Pink Floyd’s blockbuster album “The Dark Side of the Moon.”

In 1965, Waters joined with Nick Mason, Rick Wright and Syd Barrett to create Pink Floyd. When Barrett left the band in 1968, Waters became the group’s songwriter and co-lead singer. Waters had a falling out and left the group in 1985, eventually leading to a court battle. It was 18 years before he would perform again with the group again. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

If you can’t make the Tacoma show, the only tour stop in the Northwest U.S., Waters also will be performing Oct. 28 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The concert announcement comes just days after Waters performed as the headline act Sunday at the Desert Trip Festival in Indio, California.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 21. For information, go to aeglive.com.
