Train to wrap up State Fair concert series Sept. 25
Three-time Grammy Award winner Train is coming to the Washington State Fair Sept. 25.
Among Train’s hits have been Grammy winning “Hey, Soul Sister,” “Meet Virgina” and “Drops of Jupiter,” for which the band won two Grammys. The band has sold more than 10 million albums since their self-titled debut album came out in 1998. They have since produced seven other albums.
The American roots rock band first started playing in San Francisco in 1994 with Patrick Monahan on vocals, Jimmy Stafford on guitar, Rob Hitchkiss on rhythm guitar, Charlie Colin on bass guitar and Scott Underwood on drums. Monahan and Stafford are now joined by Jerry Becker, Hector Maldonado, Drew Shoals, Nikita Houston and Sakai Smith.
The fair will run Sept. 2-25, including Labor Day weekend. The fair will be closed Tuesdays.
Opening act: Also performing that night will be the reggae fusion band Magic. From Toronto, the band includes Nasri, Mark Pellizzer, Alex Tanas and Ben Spivak. The group’s debut single, “Rude,’ hit No. 1 in seven countries.
Tickets: $50-$75. Will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. They will be available at thefair.com or 888-559-3247 7 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
