Carrie Underwood will come to Seattle in September.

The country music star announced Thursday she is extending her successful “The Storyteller Tour” and will perform at KeyArena Sept. 8.

The tour is in support of Underwood’s new album “Storyteller,” which includes the No. 1 hits “Smoke Break” and “Heartbeat.”

The in-the-round arena tour began in January and has been selling out across the United States. Underwood recently returned from a series of performances as part of the Country to Country Festival in five European countries.

“I always love being on the road performing for my fans, but something about this tour feels more magnetic than ever,” Underwood said in a statement announcing the tour extension. “Having a 360-degree view of the audience gives me the opportunity to connect with more fans and feed off their energy. I can’t wait to continue this tour into the fall.”

Gaining national fame as the 2005 winner of “American Idol,” Underwood is a seven-time Grammy winner who has sold more than 58 million albums worldwide and has had 23 No. 1 hits. (She co-wrote 13 of those songs.) She’s also the only female performer to be twice named the Academy of Country Music’s entertainer of the year.

Also performing will be Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers.

The tour extension also includes performances Sept. 4 in Spokane and Sept. 6 in Boise.

Tickets for the show will go on sale at 10 a.m. April 8 at the arena box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and at 800-745-3000.
