Rapper Drake coming to Tacoma Dome in September
Rapper Drake will bring his Summer Sixteen show to Tacoma on Sept. 16. The tour of the same name, which kicks off July 20 in Austin, Texas, will promote songs from his fourth and newest album “Views from the 6,” due out Friday.
A multiplatinum single from that album, “Hotline Bling,” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Three other singles from the album are in the top 20.
Drake will perform at the Tacoma Dome at 7 p.m. Also appearing will be Future.
As part of the 32-city tour, the Canadian rapper will also perform Sept. 17 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C.
The 29-year old singer known for soft melodies has had No. 1 singles on the Billboard rap and R&B/hip-hop charts. He has also won a Grammy Award, three Juno Awards and six BET awards.
In addition, Drake has film experience, with cameos as himself in “Breakaway” and portraying a Ron Burgundy fan in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” He also was the voice of Ethan in the animated film “Ice Age: Continental Drift.”
Tickets, $49.50-$129.50, will go on sale10 a.m. Friday at livenation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.
