Grand Cinema will show Bowie film ‘Labyrinth’
In a tribute to pop singer David Bowie, who died Sunday at the age of 69, the Grand Cinema will show the 1986 fantasy adventure film “Labyrinth.”
In the film, a 16-year old girl is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King. Bowie played the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly played Sarah, the sister. Sarah must make her way through a labyrinth filled with strange creatures and puzzles to reach the king’s castle and save her brother from becoming a goblin.
The movie was directed and co-written by Jim Henson of “The Muppets” fame.
In a review of the film, Steven Rea of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote “Bowie sinks his goblin teeth into the role of baby-snatching bad guy with typical panache.”
The movie is rated PGTickets are available for 9:05 p.m. shows Sunday and Monday, and Wednesday at 1 p.m and 9:15 p.m.
