Why Animal Sounds Fascinate Toddlers
While Jessica's video didn't gain much traction on TikTok, it absolutely exploded on Instagram, where it racked up more than 15 million views and over 4,500 comments. Viewers everywhere couldn't get enough of Millie's sweet reaction to Delilah's big moo.
It turns out there's a good reason little kids are so fascinated by animal sounds. According to Speech Blubs, mimicking animal sounds can actually help support early speech development because they're some of the easiest sounds for toddlers to learn.
"When it comes to different sounds, the easiest consonants to pronounce are p, m, h, n, w, b, t, and d. They become even easier when paired with a vowel. When you put the two together, what do you get? Animal sounds! Moo, baa, and so on. Animal sounds kids love are a great way to start working on their speech."
Speech Blubs also explains that once children learn these simple sounds, they can begin using them as building blocks for other words and language skills. And judging by Millie's excitement, learning has never been so fun.
