Golden Retriever Puppy Makes the Saddest Plea To Join His Family on a Trip

Dogs are observant creatures, and after a while, they learn our patterns. They know that if we turn off the TV and stand up from the couch at night, we're probably going to bed. And they know that if they see the suitcase come out, we're probably leaving for a few days.

But the Golden Retriever puppy in this family decided to take matters into his own paws and invite himself on his family's trip instead of staying home and missing out.

Not only did Romeo grab his favorite toy so he'd be ready to take it with him, but he also blocked the door to make sure that none of his humans could leave the house. Not without him, anyway.

Poor pup. If you ask me, he deserves to go on this trip. He even seems to be asking as sweetly as he can.

I truly have no idea how his parents left without breaking down and bringing him with them. I would have cried for sure!

Do Our Dogs Miss Us While We're on Vacation?

There's a reason our pups are always so bummed when they realize we're about to take a trip: They truly do miss us while we're gone.

According to Rover, since dogs associate their favorite humans with happy memories and warm and fuzzy feelings, they do miss them if they leave-and why wouldn't they? They're taking all those warm and fuzzy feelings with them when they go!

And yes, it does make a difference if you're gone for a quick errand or gone for a weeklong vacation. Not only does your pooch notice how long you were away, but research has shown that the longer you're gone, the more excited they'll be when you come home, which might be the sweetest thing ever.

They don't have to suffer from separation anxiety to be sad without you, but that doesn't mean you should feel guilty about leaving. Just think of how happy you both will be when you finally get to reunite!
