Fireworks season usually comes with a very specific kind of pet parent anxiety.

You check the windows. You turn up the TV. You make sure the doors are secure. You prepare for pacing, whining, shaking, and the possibility that your dog may never forgive the neighborhood again.

That's what Elvis' human expected.

CRAZY ASS DOG!! I was so afraid for the fireworks this year. I thought Elvis would have a really hard time....turns out he just likes the challenge.... #firework#crazydog#funnydogvideos#dogsoftiktok#comedyvideo

Firework - Katy Perry

In the video, the caption explains that she was worried he would be terrified of the fireworks. Instead, she found out he apparently has a death wish. The post caption says she thought Elvis would have a really hard time this year, but it turns out he "just likes the challenge."

That is both funny and deeply concerning.

Most dogs hear fireworks and head for the safest corner of the house. Elvis hears fireworks and seems to think, "Finally, an opponent."

One commenter understood the danger immediately, saying their dog does the same thing and tries to pick up fireworks, which is why he stays in the house. That feels like the right safety plan for Elvis to follow going forward. Some dogs don't need reassurance. They need separation and some risk management.

My dog, Lola, had a much easier time this year because we moved away from the city. Last year was rough for her, and I was ready for another stressful night. Instead, the quieter surroundings helped so much. It was a reminder that every pup handles fireworks differently, and sometimes the biggest relief is simply having less noise around them.

Elvis is clearly built from a different blueprint.

His reaction is funny because it's the exact opposite of what his human feared, but it's also one of those clips that makes every pet parent immediately start mentally checking their locks, gates, and yard setup.

How To Keep Dogs Safe During Fireworks

Even if a dog seems curious or excited around fireworks, they still need protection. Loud noises, sparks, smoke, and unpredictable movement can scare or injure pets quickly.

The ASPCA recommends keeping pets indoors during fireworks and making sure they have a safe, quiet place away from the noise. Also, ask your vet if medication might be necessary for serious cases.
