Legendary Hip-Hop Group Receives Long-Awaited Hollywood Star

Receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is considered a prestigious honor in the entertainment industry. The accolade is a symbol of an artist's longevity, achievements and overall impact in their respective fields.

Queen Latifah became the first hip-hop artist to receive a star when she was honored in 2006. She paved the way for the genre, with iconic rappers such as Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and 50 Cent, among others, later receiving their own stars in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Wednesday, a legendary hip-hop group joined their ranks. Receiving the 2,851st star in the Recording category were Cleveland-based rappers Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone and Flesh-n-Bone. Collectively, they are Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Fat Joe and Ice-T were among the big-name hip-hop stars that graced the event. Both rappers spoke on the podium to honor BTNH during the ceremony.

"All I ever wanted to see was my homeboys successful, man," Layzie Bone said. "All I ever wanted in life was for us to prosper… Thank y'all for coming out, thank y'all for supporting us. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, we are brothers."

This long-awaited honor comes 30 years after the group released their biggest rap single, "Tha Crossroads." While this 1996 anthem was not their first hit, there's no denying that it was the song that skyrocketed them to international stardom.

"The Crossroads" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 before hitting No. 1 the following week. It became the fastest single to reach the No. 1 spot since The Beatles first achieved the feat in 1964 with "I Want to Hold Your Hand."

The track, which was a tribute to the late, great Eazy-E, won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1997.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have released 11 studio albums over the last three decades. Their latest one is "New Waves," which they dropped in June 2017.
