This Delicious Chili Dogs Recipe is Way Better Than Takeout
Who doesn’t love a hotdog fresh off the grill on a warm summer day? Top that dog with chili, and it’s even better! Chili dogs are such a treat I usually only have them when I’m at a restaurant or ordering out. But then our test kitchen came up with this chili dogs recipe that features homemade chili - and let me tell you, it’s a game changer! The flavor simply can’t be beat. And these chili dogs are easy to make, too. If you’ve got a cookout in your future (and even if you don’t), this chili dogs recipe is calling your name. Trust me on that!
I was blown away by how easy this chili is to whip up and how incredibly good it is! We use ground beef, add some garlic and other yummy spices, along with tomato sauce and (the secret ingredient) a little Worcestershire. Then, just let the flavors blend, grill up some hotdogs - and you’ve got yourself a summer feast!

Ingredients
- 1 Tbs. oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 8 oz. ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- Diced onion and yellow mustard (optional)
Instructions
Prepare grill for mediumhigh direct-heat cooking. In skillet, heat oil over mediumhigh; add onions. Cook, stirring, until softened, 5 min. Add beef; cook, stirring, until browned, 8-10 min. Drain; return to skillet. Add next 3 ingredients; cook 2 min. Stir in next 2 ingredients and 1⁄3 cup water; bring to boil. Cover and reduce heat to medium-low to let flavors blend, 10-15 min.
Grill dogs until hot and grill marked, 6-8 min. Fill buns with dogs and chili. If desired, add onion and mustard.
