Sonic's Red, White, and Blue Slush Is Back for Summer-With Collectible Cups

Sonic is bringing back its Red, White & Blue Slush Float this summer and it's coming with a sweet update: limited-edition collectible cups.

With Memorial Day Weekend officially behind us, summer is pretty much here. Meaning that Independence Day is right around the corner and since this year's celebrations are a big deal (countries only turn 250 years old once), the beloved drive-in restaurant chain is commemorating the event with the return of its patriotic slush and a series of collectible cups inspired by iconic U.S. landmarks.

Sonic said it will also be introducing two tropical items that embrace the heat of the season and ensure it's off to a smashin' start.

According to an official statement shared via email with Parade, Sonic's expanded summer menu features its colorful Red, White and Blue Slush Float, a Tropical Heat Sonic Smasher, and the Tropical Cream Slush.

Sonic's Red, White & Blue Slush Float combines icy blue raspberry slush, creamy vanilla soft serve and real fruit strawberries into one seriously cool, tricolor treat.

But should you want more of a true slush, Sonic is whipping up a limited-time Tropical Cream Slush which it says offers a "cool, creamy escape in every sip." It features a blend of pineapple and coconut slush swirled with vanilla soft serve and real pineapple pieces.

The chain is also debuting a frozen Refresher line as well as a new Watermelon Peach flavor, as we previously reported.

And as far as meals go, the Tropical Heat Sonic Smasher certainly sounds like it's enough to keep you full and focused-no matter how sluggish the temperature outside tries to make you feel. The recipe begins with two juicy, hand-smashed Angus beef patties and dresses them up with melty pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and creamy mayo before topping the stack off with a sweet-and-spicy jalapeno-pineapple glaze and plopping it on a soft potato bun.

When Will Sonic's Summer Menu Items-and Collectible Cups-Be Available?

Sonic's summer menu is available for a limited time starting this week-if you're a rewards member anyway. Fans looking to score an early taste can do beginning Tuesday, May 26 when they order in the Sonic App. Sonic Rewards members can also score 250 bonus points on Red, White and Blue Slush Float when they purchase the drink in the app on June 12, 19 and 25 (the days USA soccer matches are scheduled).

The items will then launch nationwide a few days later, with their official seasonal debut happening on Monday, June 1.
