Oreo Just Made History With Its New BTS Cookie Pack

Oreo's newest cookie is bound to be a global sensation-just like its collaborators, BTS.

The iconic sandwich cookie brand revealed on Tuesday that it's teaming up with the K-pop group and its members-Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook-to bring "a taste of their roots to a global audience," per an official announcement shared with Parade.

Oreo has previously collaborated with artists like Post Malone and Selena Gomez, and still, its newest limited-time cookie collaboration marks a first for both Oreo and the band, who were very involved in the process.

"For Oreo to be the first snacking brand we've collaborated with globally is a huge honor. We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now Oreo is helping us share a taste of home with the world," the band shared in a statement. "We're just so proud to add our own chapter to Oreo's amazing story."

Oreo's New BTS Collab Brings Korean Flavors to the Cookie Aisle

According to an official description, the Oreo & BTS cookie flavor features a brown sugar pancake creme inspired by hotteok, a beloved Korean street snack (a brown sugar pancake), and the band's favorite snack growing up. The cookies also feature Oreo's first-ever original purple wafers, serving as a "nod to the bond between BTS and their fans."

In celebration of the band's 13th anniversary, the cookies feature 13 unique cookie embossments personally designed by BTS-including their names, a BTS light stick, and three Oreo cookies that form a special message to BTS fans. Oreo said the unique embossments included within each pack will vary, turning each cookie into a "collectible piece of the experience."

The packages themselves also pay "vibrant homage" to South Korea's street market culture. But that's not all Oreo has in store.

Beginning on June 8, fans are invited to write a digital love letter to the band by scanning the QR code on the limited-edition Oreo packs. As letters are submitted, Oreo said it will make them public so fans can read each others' words to BTS as the "largest love letter prepares to come to life in the real world." Fans who submit their love letters on the platform are also entered for a chance to win exclusive Oreo brand & BTS prizes.

"At its core, this partnership is about shared passion. We're uniting BTS' incredibly dedicated fanbase with our own loyal Oreo fans to create something genuinely new and exciting," Matt Foley, vice president of marketing at Oreo, explained. "It's this commitment to uniting our fanbases that keeps us at the forefront of pop culture and demonstrates how a brand with a rich history can continue to lead the conversation."

Where Will the Oreo & BTS Cookies Be Available?

Oreo said its new flavor will be available in 80 countries (including the U.S.), with an online pre-sale beginning on Monday, June 1.

The Oreo & BTS cookies will then start rolling out at retailers about a week later (expected June 8) in classic cookie packs, packs of 10 individually wrapped cookie sets, and larger bulk boxes, and will be available for a limited time while supplies last (prices may vary).
