Fuel price monitoring service GasBuddy reports this week that local gas prices have fallen an average of 0.9 cents a gallon in one week. Nationwide, prices have dropped an average 3.3 cents a gallon.

On Monday, the average price in Tacoma was $2.71 a gallon, according to tacomagasprices.com. The lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $2.39 at the 76 station at Meridian and Milton Way and at the Tahoma station at Norpoint Way Northeast and 29th Street Northeast.

In Olympia, the lowest price Monday was $2.49 a gallon, found at several stations including the APP on Fones Road and two Arco stations on Martin Way East, as well as the 76 station on Martin Way East and the Steamboat Trading Post on Sexton Drive Northwest.

“Moving forward, oil may be on shaky ground as signs emerge that OPEC may not cut production as they indicated two weeks ago,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy in Monday’s news release. “The Saudis recently cut crude oil prices to some customers for November delivery, a fresh sign the Kingdom is staying aggressive about market share. This could lead to some relief as we head towards the holidays.”
