A pub, a coffee shop, a record store, a carpet biz and more opening in Thurston County
A number of new businesses, including nonprofits and medical providers, are either open or about to open in Thurston County.
In the Lacey area, Carpet Liquidators is putting the finishing touches on a 26,000-square-foot store at 7326 Martin Way E., across from Emperor’s Palace, a check of the property and county information shows.
It appears construction may have been delayed due to the pandemic: The county issued its environmental determination about the project in 2019.
The original proposal: To remove an existing single-family dwelling and construct a new 26,061-square-foot mixed-use building with retail, 80 parking stalls, and two loading stalls. The proposed site design includes a pedestrian plaza with a bench, bicycle rack, and bus shelter.

Clarus Eye Centre, an established multi-specialty ophthalmology practice that has been serving South Sound for more than 50 years, is opening a satellite office in Yelm this summer.
Clarus Eye Centre at Yelm will offer routine and medical eye care, diabetic and glaucoma screenings/monitoring, and optical services.
Plans to serve Yelm and its surrounding areas have been in the works for several years, according to a news release. The new clinic location on the second floor of the Yelm Medical Plaza, 201 Tahoma Blvd. SE, Suite 208, will allow Clarus to offer a growing area easier access to optometric and general ophthalmic care.
”We recognized the growing need for greater eye care services in the Yelm area and we’re grateful this opportunity to expand presented itself when it did,” said Stephen Reck, ophthalmologist and owner at Clarus Eye Centre.
