Overview
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB is a subcompact luxury SUV positioned between the entry-level GLA and the compact GLC, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter mild hybrid inline-four in both the GLB 250 and AMG GLB 35, with the latter producing more power. The GLB's defining advantage in the segment is an optional third-row seat that extends passenger capacity to seven and is a configuration that no rival offers at this price point. And a $2,000 reduction on the base GLB 250 for 2026 further sharpens its competitive positioning against the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
What's New for 2026?
No powertrain or structural changes apply for the 2026 GLB; the updates are limited to new packaging options only. The Sun and Sound Package at $1,500, bundles a panoramic roof with a 10-speaker Advanced Sound System, previously only available through the Pinnacle Trim. The Night Package is now orderable as a standalone option on the GLB 250, and a new AMG Night Package for $3,300, brings AMG body styling, sport seats, a sport steering wheel, 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels with black accents, and illuminated Star Pattern trim to the GLB 250 for the first time.
The Midnight Edition at $1,950 adds 20-inch black AMG multispoke wheels, adaptive dampers, the Night Package elements, and badge deletion. The AMG GLB 35 gains the AMG Design Plus Package for $2,550, which pairs exclusive nonmetallic gray paint with blacked-out exterior trim throughout. AMG Line Lite, a new no-cost option, adds 19-inch AMG wheels and a body-color roof spoiler.
Exterior
The GLB's upright profile and squared-off roofline distinguish it from the rounded crossover shapes typical of the segment. The 2026 exterior personalization catalog expands considerably with the inclusion of packages. The standalone Night Package darkens grille crossbars, mirror housings, and window surrounds; the Midnight Edition steps up to 20-inch black wheels; and the AMG Design Plus Package on the GLB 35 extends black trim across the lower bumpers, sills, grille bars, roof rails, and exhaust tips with an exclusive gray paint finish.
Interior
The GLB's dual 10.25-inch displays run the MBUX OS with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the MB-Tex upholstery, heated front seats (35 AMG only; optional on 250), dual-zone climate, power front seats with memory, and a sliding 40/20/40-split second row are all carried over unchanged. The optional Exclusive Trim package adds 64-color LED ambient lighting, Keyless-Go, hands-free liftgate access, wireless charging, Active Parking Assist, and biometric MBUX authentication.
Pinnacle Trim includes the panoramic roof, Active LED headlamps, illuminated door sills, navigation, a head-up display, a surround-view camera system, and the MBUX Interior Assistant. Buyers can also access the panoramic roof and an upgraded sound system through the new Sun and Sound Package bundled in a cost-effective package.
Price Range and Best Value Trim
Among the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB's price spread of $17K, the GLB 250 4Matic represents the best value, given that $2,000 gets the all-wheel drive along with the standard feature set of the 250.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Optional third row is unique in the subcompact luxury segment.
- GLB 250 FWD returns 28 mpg combined, above class average.
- 2026 base price drops $2,000 to $43,800.
Cons
- Third-row usage cuts cargo to just 5.1 cubic feet.
- No complimentary maintenance included.
- MB Navigation requires the $5,450 Pinnacle Trim package.
Verdict
The 2026 GLB enters the year with a sharper price and a more flexible options structure, but the fundamental package is unchanged from prior years. Third-row capability remains the GLB's clearest competitive differentiator, though it continues to come at the cost of cargo space when that row is in use. The GLB 250 4Matic at $45,800 is the recommended configuration, pairing AWD with 27 mpg combined. However, the absence of complimentary maintenance and the cost of adding navigation remain the lineup's biggest weaknesses for the model year.
