Alfa Romeo Fans Are Finally Getting A New Giulietta-Style Hatchback

Stellantis dominated the news last week with its Investor Day 2026 event, announcing 60 new launches and 50 model refreshes by 2030 across its entire 14-brand global portfolio as part of its Fastlane 2030 plan.

While the automaker announced a focus on four global brands-Jeep, Ram, Fiat and Peugeot-it will continue to bring new products to its five regional brands (Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, and Opel/Vauxhall), as well as the Maserati luxury brand.

We've already covered the new products Chrysler and Dodge are planning to launch by 2030, and we've also touched on the new launches coming from Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

New Compact Hatch Will Follow In The Footsteps Of The 147 And Giulietta

But it looks like the presentation in Auburn Hills left out a major announcement for Alfa Romeo, and Stellantis rectified the error today by issuing a press statement aimed at putting more clarity into the brand's plans for the near future.

The big news is that, in addition to the C-segment SUV announced on Thursday, Alfa Romeo will also launch a new C-segment hatchback based on the new multi-energy STLA One platform.

"Building on icons such as the 147 and Giulietta, it will combine innovation with the brand's distinctive DNA," Stellantis said in the statement. This is obviously great news for Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, which have been longing for a sporty Alfa hatch ever since the Giulietta was discontinued at the end of 2020.

The automaker also said that Alfa's future compact hatchback "will bring advanced technologies and efficiency across all powertrains."

No further information was offered about the future hatch, but we do know the STLA One global modular platform launching in 2027 will be compatible with B-, C- and D-segment vehicles and will support multiple powertrains, including all-electric (800-volt capable) and hybrid systems.

Stellantis did not say if the compact hatch will be available in North America, but given Alfa's new regional brand status and the fact that it wasn't even mentioned at the Investor Day event, we wouldn't hold our breath for it.

In addition to the hatchback, Alfa Romeo will also launch a C-segment SUV built on the STLA M platform. Replacing the current Tonale, it will feature multi-energy powertrains and will compete in the heart of the market. It will be a "true Alfa Romeo, made in Italy, designed to stand out for interior quality, performance, and driving pleasure," Stellantis said.

As for the current Alfa Romeo models, the automaker said the Junior electric crossover will be refreshed during its lifecycle and will continue to compete in the European B-SUV segment as the brand's entry-level model.

The Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV will remain in production until 2027, including their Quadrifoglio performance versions. As for what will happen after that, Alfa Romeo said it "is studying solutions to continue competing in the D segment with new interpretations of the current line-up made of Giulia and Stelvio, remaining true to its performance-driven DNA while adapting to market evolution."

Stellantis added that Alfa Romeo will leverage flexible platforms to progressively introduce multi-energy solutions, including hybrid and electric powertrains, but further details will be announced later.

Finally, as noted in our coverage last week, a new Alfa Romeo halo car will launch as a successor to the current 33 Stradale. Co-developed with Maserati, it will be built in a very limited run as part of the Bottega Fuoriserie program.
