$63 million Delta One Lounge coming to Atlanta airport, council says

Another major upgrade is coming to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

On Monday, the Atlanta City Council voted to approve a nearly $63 million investment in concourse E for a new Delta One Lounge.

The resolution, passed by a vote of 14 to one, will be sent to Mayor Andre Dickens to be signed.

Here's what to know.

Delta One Lounge is coming to Atlanta

In the latest expansion of Delta's presence at the Atlanta airport, a new Delta One Lounge will soon begin construction.

Delta Air Lines in headquartered in Atlanta, but Delta One Lounges have so far been limited to Seattle, Boston, Los Angeles and New York airports.

Atlanta approved a change to the airport agreement with Delta for the new lounge, and promised $62,997,000 for the project. The City of Atlanta owns and operates Hartsfield-Jackson.

The lounge will be built on the upper level of concourse E between E14 and E27, and is slated to open by January 2029.

Who has access to a Delta One Lounge?

Delta One Lounges, the most exclusive of the airlines' airport lounges, are available for Delta One ticketed passengers, Delta 360 Members, and first and business class passengers of Delta partner airlines, including Air France, LATAM, KLM, Korean Air and Virgin Atlantic.

You must also be 18 years or older, appropriately dressed and "keeping with good taste and a dignified atmosphere" within the lounge.

The area is not open to Delta Sky Club members or those with qualifying credit cards.

Upgrades at Hartsfield-Jackson continue

Infrastructure upgrades were completed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ahead of the city hosting eight World Cup matches this summer. From streamlining access to MARTA from the terminal to reorganizing the drop-off zone, things are looking a little different around the airport.

On June 1, the airport opened a new 7,000-car parking deck located next to the south terminal.

"The new South Red Deck is bringing 7,000+ parking spaces to the airport, because, apparently, some of y'all really do wait until the last possible second to head to your flight," airport officials said in a Facebook post. "Anyway… with ticketless entry and exit, 100+ EV chargers, premium parking options, and direct terminal access, getting from your car to check-in is about to be a whole lot smoother."

The ticketless process works the same as the ATL West Parking Deck, which opened in 2021. The deck was built as travel started to rebound and the airport was again seeing a higher passenger demand.

But, unlike the ATL West deck, you don't have to take a train from the parking deck to the terminal in the new Red South Deck, saving even more time for those who like to test the efficiency of the airport security lines and Plane Train.

The parking fees will be the same as the other decks that are part of the ParkATL network, meaning $10 an hour for hourly parking and $30 a day for daily parking.

During a ribbon cutting event, Mayor Dickens called the deck "Phase 1" of airport improvements.
