Thousands of gas ranges sold at Best Buy recalled. See affected items

Best Buy has recalled thousands of Insignia Front Control Gas Ranges, warning consumers that the appliances are a fire hazard and could cause serious injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after Best Buy said the affected gas ranges can be turned on unintentionally by people or pets. The company has received one report of a knob being activated by accidental contact, but no injuries have been reported, per the recall notice.

The recall affects about 3,820 Insignia Front Control Gas Ranges sold in the United States, with an additional 700 units sold in Canada. The recalled appliances were available at Best Buy stores nationwide and online from November 2020 through March 2026 for between $280 and $1,470.

Which Best Buy gas ranges are being recalled?

The recall involves Insignia Front Control Gas Ranges with the following model numbers:

• NS-RGFGSS1
• NS-RGFCGS2

The recalled gas ranges are stainless steel and have five front-mounted knobs above the oven door. The "Insignia" label appears on the bottom of the oven door.

Consumers can find the model number on a label inside the range's bottom drawer. Insignia is a Best Buy brand.

What should consumers do?

Consumers with the recalled ranges should stop using the appliances immediately and visit Best Buy's recall website to confirm whether their model is affected.

After confirming their range is included, consumers will receive a free set of compatible knob covers along with installation instructions.

Best Buy is also advising consumers to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check that the knobs are turned off before leaving home or going to bed and to avoid placing objects on the range when it is not in use.
