Tractor Supply Company opens store in Olympia; Yelm store due in January
Tractor Supply Co. has opened in the former Olympia Kmart building, filling out the space that sat vacant for years until Hobby Lobby occupied a portion of the building earlier this year.
Tractor Supply has taken over the remaining 29,000 square feet at 4141 Martin Way E. It opened Friday, and is the first store of the chain in Thurston County.
The Nashville-area retailer services the needs of the rural lifestyle, according to a spokesman, selling to farmers, ranchers and those who want to get outside and grow vegetables in their gardens.
The business sells products for horses, livestock, and pets, as well as tools, hardware, tractor replacement parts, work clothing and seasonal supplies.
Tractor Supply also owns Del’s Feed and Farm Supply. As a result of Tractor Supply’s entry into the Thurston County market, the Del’s store near Olympia Regional Airport has closed, Tractor Supply store manager Noah Quantz said Monday. Those employees were transferred to the Tractor Supply store.
The Del’s in Yelm also has closed — those employees were transferred to Olympia, too — because Tractor Supply plans to open a 21,000-square-foot location there in January.
The Olympia store currently employs 25, but that number will fall once the Yelm store opens, Quantz said.
A Tractor Supply store is set to open in Enumclaw in early 2016, according to a news release. The company also operates stores in Chehalis, Puyallup, Port Orchard and Lynden, according to a spokesman.
Tractor Supply is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
