Two businesses with ties to the Olympia nonprofit Enterprise for Equity, which educates qualifying applicants on how to run a business, have recently won business competitions, including cash prizes.
Deep Roots Foods took home $130,000 after it won the first-place prize from Seattle-based Social Venture Partners and its fast pitch investment fund for 2015.
Deep Roots helps food-based businesses reach new markets through small batch food processing and co-packing services.
Meanwhile, OlyKraut, which makes hand-crafted sauerkrauts, pickles and sipping brines in Olympia, won $20,000 from Kitsap Bank as part of the bank’s second edge3 Fund small business competition. OlyKraut also was a finalist in the same competition last year.
