Longtime Thurston County businesses merge

Two longtime Thurston County businesses completed a merger this week.

Air Handlers of Tumwater, an HVAC and sheet metal contractor that was started in 1967, has acquired Gas Works of Lacey, said Donna Shattuck, co-owner of Air Handlers.

Shattuck, a second generation co-owner of Air Handlers, said Gas Works had been around for more than 25 years. The former owners, Mike and Jessica Pettit, have retired, she said.

“It’s a good fit,” Shattuck said about the merger, saying both businesses shared similar values.

Now that the businesses have merged, Air Handlers will take on some of the services offered by Gas Works, such as selling, servicing and installing gas furnaces, and tankless and traditional hot water heaters.
