Olympia taxpayer assistance center will see taxpayers by appointment

In an effort to reduce waiting times, the Olympia IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center will now see taxpayers by appointment.

To schedule an appointment at the center, which is at 319 Seventh Ave. SE, taxpayers should call 1-844-545-5640, according to a news release from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS is now accepting calls for appointments beginning Jan. 11.

Although the center is seeing people by appointment, it is still open for walk-in business, IRS spokesman David Tucker said.

The center is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. It is closed daily for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., he said.
