Gas prices up more than a dime in a week
If your trips to the pump seem more expensive these days, it turns out they are.
Average retail gasoline prices in Tacoma rose more than a dime per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com’s regular survey. It’s not all bad, though, as prices are still about 75 cents a gallon lower than this time last year.
According to Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, in Monday’s news release: "The large jump in crude oil prices comes amidst record oil inventories, yet it's the mere threat that oil supply could be slashed from OPEC and non-OPEC countries at the same time oil demand is growing (that’s) driving prices higher."
In the Tacoma area, the 76 station at Meridian and Milton Way was the low-price leader Monday on tacomagasprices.com, at $1.85 a gallon, with the average pump price at $2.22 a gallon in the city.
In Olympia, washingtongasprices.com reported the lowest price as $1.89 a gallon at the Arco on Martin Way East near Nisqually Cut-Off Road Southeast.
