People news: Jamison joins Port of Olympia as environmental director

Rachael Jamison is the new director of environmental programs at the Port of Olympia, the port announced on Thursday.

Jamison previously was the manager of sustainable forestry at Weyerhaeuser. Before that she was an executive policy analyst for the state Department of Natural Resources and a green building lead at the state Department of Ecology.

Jamison earned her undergradute degree in science and a master’s degree in environmental studies at The Evergreen State College.

“The port received many excellent applications for this position,” Executive Director Ed Galligan said in a statement. “And while the competition was close, we found Rachael to be the best fit for the Port of Olympia.”

Jamison replaces former environmental programs director Alexandra Smith.
