Don’t go to Costco without a mask. Starting Monday you can’t get in without one

If you’re heading to Costco next week, be sure to wear a mask — they’re required for shoppers starting Monday, the company said.

Costco made the announcement Wednesday that all members and guests who visit the store must cover their mouth and nose at all times with either a mask or face covering, according to an online post.

The policy won’t apply to children under age 2 or to people who have health conditions that preclude them from wearing masks or face coverings, the post said.

Costco also cautioned shoppers to continue to maintain proper social distance in-store.

“The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing,” the post said. “Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises.”

Previously, Costco had enacted capacity limits at some of its stores along with sneeze guards at checkstands, special hours for senior shoppers and others in high risk groups, increased sanitation efforts and social distancing in lines, according to the company.

Costco is also barring returns on items such as toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water, sanitizing wipes, disinfectant spray and rice, the post said.
