Robber coughs in security officers’ faces to make her getaway, California police say
A California woman who coughed in store employees’ faces during the coronavirus pandemic was arrested Tuesday, police say.
The Vallejo Police Department said in a news release Wednesday that a woman who allegedly coughed on employees to get away from a store without paying for items turned herself in.
“When confronted by loss prevention employees, the suspect approached the employees, and purposely began coughing in their faces,” Vallejo police said. ”Fearing for their safety, the employees backed away, allowing the suspect to flee to a getaway car.”
The March 27 robbery happened at about 6 p.m. at a store in the 900 block of Admiral Callaghan Lane, according to police.
Julie Santos, 40, turned herself in at the Vallejo Police Department on Tuesday, according to the news release. She was wanted in the March 27 robbery and an unrelated warrant for theft, police said.
