Thurston County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 117
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to grow in Thurston County, although at a much slower pace than in some other areas of the state.
The latest to test positive were a man in his 40s and a man in his 50s, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services announced Thursday. That increased the overall county total to 117 from 115 on Wednesday.
Of those 117 cases, one person has died and 108 have either recovered or are recovering, giving the county eight active cases of COVID-19. The two new cases give the county five so far this week.

- The week of March 9: Four cases.
- March 16-22: 6.
- March 23-29: 26.
- March 30-April 5: 31.
- April 6-12: 13.
- April 13-19: 12.
- April 20-26: 8.
- April 27-May 3: 12.
- The week of May 4 so far: 5.
Also in the region
Pierce County cases continue to climb daily. The county added 35 more on Thursday with three more deaths, giving Pierce more than 1,600 cases and 57 deaths. The three people who died all had underlying health problems, according to county health officials.
Lewis County is now reporting 30 cases with three deaths.
Mason County has 26 cases and one death.
Grays Harbor County has reported one new case and now has 13.
Around the state, nation and world
Washington state has more than 16,000 cases and 891 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., the world’s leader in cases and deaths, the numbers continue to climb, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. On Thursday afternoon, those numbers showed 1.2 million confirmed cases and more than 75,000 deaths. More than 26,000 people have died of COVID-19 in New York state.
Globally, the virus has afflicted 3.8 million and killed more than 269,500.
