1 new case increases Thurston County COVID-19 total to 155
A woman in her 50s was identified Monday as the latest confirmed case of COVID-19, according to Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
County officials said the case was tied to either a retirement community in Tumwater, or an adult family home in Lacey, but wouldn’t specify which location. A single case potentially makes that person “more identifiable,” said county spokeswoman Meghan Porter about the decision not to disclose the location.
The one new case gives the county a total of 155. Of those, there has been one death, and 130 people have either recovered or are recovering, giving the county 24 active cases, the data show.
The Tumwater location is a senior retirement community called Olympics West Retirement Inn, which offers both independent and assisted living services, according to its website. The Lacey-based adult family home is called Infinite Care.
The county announced last week that an employee who works at Olympics West and Infinite Care tested positive for the virus. Since then, 139 residents and 62 staff at Olympics West have been tested, and as of Sunday, 19 had tested positive.
