Olympia City Council to host virtual town hall series to address mental health

Olympia’s City Council will host a series of virtual town hall meetings to address mental health and wellness as the state begins to reopen after the coronavirus shutdown.

The first meeting in the series is slated for 5:30 p.m. June 11 and will cover a litany of mental health topics, including how the pandemic is affecting families and what resources are available to assist, the resources available through the Crisis Clinic of Thurston and Mason Counties, how the pandemic is affecting the homeless population and more.

The virtual town hall will feature a panel of guests ranging from local government officials to hospital administrators and aims to help the community get back on its feet. The panel also will answer questions submitted by attendees live with help from a moderator.

To join the town hall, register online and be sure to have Zoom downloaded on either your phone or computer.

Future dates for town halls have yet to be announced and the events are still being formatted, although they will all have the same structure as Thursday’s meeting.
