Thurston County announces 4th death tied to COVID-19
A woman in her 90s became Thurston County’s fourth fatality from COVID-19 last weekend, according to Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
The county also ended the week with one new confirmed case, bringing the week’s total to 23.
The death and the additional case were announced Sunday. A woman in her 40s was the latest new case, increasing the overall number of cases in Thurston County to 193.
Over the past three weeks, the county has added 62 new cases, the second most for a three-week period since the county announced 70 cases between March 23 and April 12, the county data show.
Of the 193 cases, 173 people have either recovered or are recovering, 27 have been hospitalized, four have died and there have been two congregate care setting outbreaks. Those two locations, which were previously announced by the county, are Olympics West Retirement Inn in Tumwater and Infinite Care Adult Family Home in Lacey.
Both locations have produced multiple positive cases of COVID-19, according to the county.

▪ Pierce County announced 19 new cases on Sunday, increasing its total to 2,125 with 83 deaths.
▪ Mason County now has 40 cases with one death.
▪ Lewis County has 38 cases and three deaths.
▪ Grays Harbor County now has 20 cases.

Washington state has reported 25,834 cases as of Monday and 1,217 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.
The U.S. has reported more than 2.1 million positive cases and more than 116,000 deaths, Johns Hopkins University data show. Globally, nearly 8 million people have tested positive with 435,000 deaths, the data show.
