Thurston County starts week with four new COVID-19 cases, brings total to 197
Thurston County is reporting four new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 197 diagnoses since March 11, when the first case was announced.
The four cases are made up of three women, one in her 20’s, one in her 50’s and another in her 80’s; and a man in his 40’s. One of the cases is tied to outbreaks at assisted living facilities in Lacey and Tumwater, said Thurston County spokesperson Meghan Porter.
Yesterday, Thurston County reported that a fourth person --a woman in her 90’s-- had died as a result of catching the respiratory disease.
The county lists 173 people as “recovering” or “recovered” from the disease, and 27 who have been hospitalized for treatment. Both numbers have not changed since Saturday, June 13.

Pierce County has reported 13 new cases of COVID-19, bringing their total to 2,137 cases. 83 people have died in Pierce County from the disease.
Lewis County is reporting two new cases, bring their case total to 40. Three people from the county have died because of COVID-19.
Mason County had no new cases Monday, leaving them with 40 cases total, and with one person dying from COVID-19.
Grays Harbor has a total of 20 cases, with no new cases reported since June 11.
AROUND THE STATE, NATION AND WORLD
In Washington state, 26,158 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and over 1,200 people have died from it, according to data from the Washington State Department of Health.
The U.S. has over 2.1 million people infected with disease, and 116,090 people dying from it, Johns Hopkins University data shows.
Globally, over 8 million people have now been infected, and over 435,000 people have been killed by the disease.
