Thurston County adds four new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, brings county total to 292
Thurston County Public Health and Social Services reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the county’s total to 292.
The new cases are all in young people, a man and two women in their 20’s and a woman in her 30’s. The four new diagnoses bring the weeks case total to 48. Cases have been trending younger in the past two weeks, which the county equates to more travel, people returning to work and friends gathering in groups.
Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Thurston county, 37 patients have been hospitalized for disease treatment and 228 of the 292 people have been declared “recovered” or “recovering” by the county.
IN THE REGION
- Pierce County recorded 47 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths. The county has now had 2,751 cases and 90 deaths.
- Lewis County has yet to announce whether or not new cases have been discovered in the county on July 4. As of writing this the county has 77 cases with three deaths.
- Mason County is reporting two new cases of the disease. 54 cases have been reported in the county and one person has died.
- Grays Harbor County has not reported any new cases since June 29. The county has 26 cases overall.
AROUND THE STATE, NATION AND WORLD
- Washington State has yet to announce the statewide total of new cases. Washington State’s Department of Health still has 34,778 cases and 1,352 on their website as of reporting this.
- In the U.S. over 2.8 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 129,641 people have died from it, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
- Globally, over 11 million people have been diagnosed with the respiratory disease and 528,232 people have died from it.
