Four new COVID-19 cases reported in Thurston County

Thurston County Public Health and Social Services reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the overall case total to 321.

Today’s cases are: a man in his 40s, a man and a woman in their 50s and a man in his 60s, according to the county. Today defies the dominant trend in Washington and around the country of younger people being infected with the disease and shows that it is still being contracted by all age groups. So far this week, 23 people in the county have tested positive for the disease.

Cases that are considered “recovered” or “recovering,” along with cases requiring hospitalization, remained the same at 231 and 37, respectively. Five people have died in the county from complications stemming from the respiratory disease.

  • Pierce County announced 63 new cases of COVID-19 pushing their overall total to 3,001 cases. No new deaths were added, leaving the county’s total deaths at 92.
  • Lewis County has seven new cases, one in a person under the age of 20, three in people in their 20s, one person in their 30s, someone in their 60s and someone in their 80s. 95 people have tested positive in Lewis County and three have died.
  • Mason County reported three new cases, bringing their case total to 59 with one death.
  • Grays Harbor County has had 33 people in the county test positive since the outbreak began.

AROUND THE STATE, NATION AND WORLD

  • Washington State’s Department of Health is reporting 38,581 cases of COVID-19 and 1,409 deaths related to the disease.
  • In the U.S., over 3.1 million people have tested positive for the disease and 133,016 people have died from it, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
  • Globally, over 12.2 million people have contracted the disease and 552,104 people have died as a result.
