Thurston County reports 13 new COVID-19 cases Monday
Thurston County Public Health and Social Services is reporting 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
According to county data, the 13 new cases are in:
- A boy below age 10;
- A boy and two girls between the ages of 10 and 19;
- A man and two women in their 20s;
- Two women in their 30s;
- A man and a woman in their 40s;
- A man in his 50s; and
- A woman in her 80s.
One of the new cases in connected to an outbreak at one of three congregant care settings in Thurston County —all of which will remain anonymous—, according to TCPHSS. As per her last Letter to the Community, Thurston County Health Officer Dr. Dimyana Abdelmalek wrote the county will only identify a congregant care setting by name if “an outbreak poses a risk to the public.”
Earlier in the year, two adult care facilities were the sites of outbreaks in the community. At the end of last week, three more settings were determined to be sources of outbreaks. This means that at least one staff person or one resident tested positive for COVID-19. The three recent outbreaks are considered “ongoing” by the county.
Since the first case was discovered on March 11, 789 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and 11 have died from it. Of those who tested positive for the disease, 657 have “recovered” or are “recovering,” according to the county. Over course of the outbreak, 58 county residents have had to be hospitalized at some point for treatment.
