Thurston County reports 14 new COVID-19 cases Thursday
Thurston County announced 14 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the week’s total to 47 and the overall total for the county to 823.
Data from Thurston County Public Health and Social Services shows the new cases are:
- Two boys and a girl under the age of 10;
- Two men and two women in their 30s;
- A man and a woman in their 40s;
- A man and a woman in their 50s;
- A woman in her 60s; and
- Two men in their 70s.
Since the first case was discovered in the county on March 11, 823 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 657 of those people are considered “recovered” or “recovering.” The number of people who have at some point been hospitalized for treatment is 58.
As of Wednesday, Thurston County has discovered four ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks in congregant care facilities. County Health Officer Dr. Dimyana Abdelmalek and public health department have decided not to name the outbreak sites to maintain the privacy of residents and staff who live and work there.

- Pierce County reported 72 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday and added one death. A total of 5,846 people have tested positive for the virus and 130 people’s deaths have been attributed to it.
- Lewis County reported eight people had tested positive in the county on Thursday – five people who tested positive are younger than 20, one person is in their 20s and two are in their 30s. The county’s case total is 251 with four deaths.
- Mason County reported 12 new cases, bringing the county’s total to 268 cases with one death.
- Grays Harbor County added nine cases to bring its total to 135 cases and three deaths.
Around the state, nation and world
- Washington state’s Department of Health is reporting there have been 65,339 cases of COVID-19 and 1,736 deaths stemming from it since the virus was first reported in the state.
- In the U.S., more than 5.3 million people had tested positive for the disease and more than 168,000 people had died from it as of Friday, data from Johns Hopkins University show.
- Globally, more than 21 million cases of the disease had been reported as of Friday, with more than 761,000 deaths connected to it.
