Thurston County COVID-19 cases rise by 7 on Wednesday to 952
Seven more cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services on Wednesday, increasing the overall total here to 952.
The seven new cases were two men in their 40s, two men in their 30s and two women and a man in their 20s. As of Wednesday, those 20-29 represented 203 cases, or 21 percent of the county’s total, the largest demographic to contract the virus, county data show.
Of the 952 cases, 724 people have recovered or are recovering, 59 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 12 have died.
The number of congregate care setting outbreaks also has now grown to eight locations, county data show. But only the Thurston County Jail has been identified among those outbreaks.

▪ Pierce County reported 44 new COVID-19 cases and one new death Wednesday. A woman in her 60s from Tacoma with an underlying health condition died. The county’s totals are now 6,515 cases and 145 deaths.
▪ Lewis County announced two new cases: one patient in their 80s and one in their 40s. The county’s total is now 329 with four deaths.
▪ Mason County announced three new cases, for a total of 324 cases and one death.
▪ Grays Harbor County had 222 total cases with five deaths as of Tuesday night.
Around the state, nation and world
Washington state had reported 72,161 cases and 1,880 deaths as of Wednesday, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., more than 5.8 million people had contracted the virus as of Wednesday and nearly 180,000 had died.
Globally, more than 24 million cases had been reported and more than 824,000 had died as of Wednesday, Johns Hopkins University data show.
