State reopens COVID-19 test ordering portal after successful launch two weeks ago
The statewide portal that allows people to order free COVID-19 rapid tests online has reopened, the Washington state Department of Health announced on Monday.
Washington state residents can go to www.sayyescovidhometest.org (English) or sayyescovidhometest.org/casa.html (Spanish) to order up to five free tests that can be delivered at no cost. Supplies are limited but will become available again in the future.
The state initially launched the portal Jan. 21 and within eight hours, all 1.4 million available tests were claimed. The DOH estimated 340,000 households received tests, and they’re expecting another 120,000 to be served this round.
Tests are expected to arrive within a few days of the order being placed, according to a press release.
“Increasing access to rapid tests is an important part of slowing the spread of COVID-19, because when more people use home tests, they’re able to limit their contact with others when they test positive,” said Deputy Secretary Lacy Fehrenbach. “Knowing your status is key – if you test positive, you should stay home from school or work.”
There are several other options for obtaining COVID-19 tests, including ordering a kit from a similar federal program at COVIDtests.gov, from local retailers and pharmacies when available, at local testing locations, and from health care providers.
