State Route 161 to be closed near Graham this weekend
Work to replace a culvert will mean the shutdown of the main highway serving the Graham area this weekend.
Contractor crews working for the state Department of Transportation will close state Route 161, also known as Meridian Avenue East, where it crosses South Creek just south of 304th Street East/Kapowsin Highway East.
The closure is set to begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue to 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Transportation Department. A marked detour will be in place during the closure.
Motorists also might encounter alternating, one-way traffic at times before and after the closure, the Transportation Department said.
The work is part of a statewide effort to replace undersized or otherwise deficient culverts that prevent fish such as salmon from reaching critical habitat.
