How many officers does it take to subdue domestic violence suspect? Five
A 40-year-old Lacey man is facing a felony assault charge after he kicked a police officer during a domestic violence-related struggle, a Lacey police sergeant said Sunday.
About 4 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Magnolia Street Southeast, Lacey police responded to an alleged domestic violence incident after the man pepper-sprayed his girlfriend and her 17-year-old daughter.
Two to three officers initially responded to the call, but the number increased to five after the man became uncooperative, Sgt. Matt Koehler said. They also used a Taser on the man but to no effect, he said.
Koehler believes the man was under the influence of drugs. He was later taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital for treatment. Police are waiting for him to be released from the hospital before he is booked into jail, he said.
The man faces two counts of assault in the fourth degree and one count of assault in the third degree, a felony, Koehler said.
