Don’t miss the midnight deadline for discounts on Lakefair ride wristbands
Love Lakefair carnival rides, but not the cost?
If you buy a ride wristband online before 11:59 p.m. tonight, the cost is $30 (plus a $1.50 service fee) — 25 percent less than the cost of $40 per wristband after midnight.
If you miss the early discount, you’ll have to purchase one on-site from noon to 8 p.m. on the day of use.
This also is the first year that Capital Lakefair-goers can enjoy unlimited rides on any day of the year — Lakefair organizers have done away with Wristband Day.
Wristbands are a cheaper alternative to individual ride tickets if you plan to go on more than a few rides. Those who purchase online today will receive a printable barcode that they can exchange for a wristband at the fair ticket booth from noon to 8 p.m. on the day of their choice.
In the past, unlimited ride wristbands were only available on the second day of Lakefair, which created long lines at rides and ticket booths. Last year, all wristbands were sold on-site at a standard price of $35.
Past Capital Lakefair Co-President Bob Barnes said the decision to sell wristbands every day will give more families the opportunity to fully enjoy Lakefair.
“It’s a real bargain for the people buying tickets,” Barnes said. “We’re just thinking it’s better overall for the kids and families.”
In addition to unlimited rides, wristband holders get three games and one food item — a corn dog, a medium drink, or popcorn — from Funtastic Carnival food stands. (Sorry, no Demo Burgers or other foods from local organizations qualify.)
Fairgoers must be at least 2 years old to ride carnival rides, and most rides have a 36-inch height requirement.
Lakefair begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday. The carnival rides run from noon to 10 p.m. each day. Admission to the festival is free.
