Lacey Fire District 3 spent three hours fighting a commercial structure fire near Lacey after a man drove his truck into an office building at Martin Way and Carpenter Road Saturday night, a battalion chief said.

Fire crews were dispatched about 10 p.m. Saturday to Sunrise Landscaping at 6325 Martin Way E. for an unknown injury accident. But when fire crews showed up they found a truck that had been driven into an office building on the site, which triggered a commercial structure fire, Battalion Chief Steve Crimmins said.

The driver, a man, fled the scene, but was later taken into custody by Lacey police, he said.

Fire crews were on scene until about 1 a.m. Sunday. No one was injured, although one firefighter was treated for dehydration at Providence St. Peter Hospital and released.

Damage to the building is estimated at $50,000, Crimmins said.

Olympia Fire Department and East Olympia Fire District 6 also responded to the fire.
