On your mark... Get set...

Hold on.

The Capitol to Bay Relay has been delayed this year, and will take place on Sept. 9 instead of the traditional first week of August.

Organizers decided to delay the four-part race because of the warm weather and multiple events taking place on the original weekend.

Registration for the race is open now.

Athletes may compete alone, in tandem or in full relay teams. The race begins with a 7.4-mile mountain bike course in the Capitol Forest, then transitions to a 22-mile road bike ride to West Bay Park. Competitors will then paddle around Budd Inlet, then run 4.5 miles through Priest Point Park.

A victory party following the race will take place in downtown Olympia.

For more information, visit capitolbayrelay.com. Registration costs between $75 and $399, depending on team size and type. Register before Aug. 21 to save $20.
