Remember when moisture fell from the sky? Well, there’s a chance of that happening later this week, according to the National Weather Service.

But first it’s going to be hot, so hot that wildfire dangers remain extremely high in most counties, including Thurston.

Temperatures for the Olympia area are expected to be around 95 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday. After that there’s a chance of rain in the forecast Wednesday night through the weekend, National Weather Service data show.

Before that chance of rain gets here, though, the National Weather Service has some reminders about hot and dry weather:

▪ Properly discard cigarettes. (Translation: That means in an ashtray, not by tossing it out a car window into tall grass).

▪ Keep vehicles off of dry grass. (Translation: A hot engine can trigger a grass fire).

▪ Avoid activities with open flames and sparks. (Translation: Do not use a blowtorch to kill weeds in your yard).

▪ Avoid power equipment that creates sparks. (Translation: No need to do any welding outdoors).

▪ Obey burn bans. (No translation needed, hopefully).
