Olympia business damaged after bathroom ceiling fan catches fire
A financial office in a strip mall on the northeast corner of Cooper Point Road and Black Lake Blvd. was damaged after a ceiling fan caught fire, the Olympia Fire Department wrote in a release Monday.
Occupants of the building called the fire in after smelling smoke in the restroom, and discharged a fire extinguisher at burning material on the floor before shutting the door and evacuating.
Firefighters from three agencies responded to the site on the 1500 block of Cooper Point Road Southwest just before 4:30 p.m.
The fire was extinguished, and the material on the floor appeared to be remnants of the ceiling fan motor, the release said, and the cause appeared to be caused by an electrical malfunction in the fan.
There were no injuries, though damage to the structure was estimated at $1,000.
